Register a cell phone for Warn Central Texas
County emergency alerts do not automatically find a mobile phone. The signup is free.
Bastrop County uses the Capital Area Council of Governments notification system for local emergency alerts. A cell phone does not get those messages until someone registers it.
The account is free, takes a few minutes, and can cover more than one address, which matters for families split between Bastrop, Elgin, and Smithville. Landlines in the system may already be listed. Phones are not.
Sign up at warncentraltexas.org. In an actual emergency, call 911. Do not send an emergency request to a county social account or to the Bastropia group.
