Bastrop ISD voters turn down the 1.3-cent tax hike
Unofficial returns show about two-thirds against Proposition A for the 2026–27 budget year.
Bastrop ISD’s Proposition A failed on Nov. 3. With all 15 precincts in, unofficial results reported by Community Impact show about 66% of voters rejecting a 1.3-cent tax-rate increase for fiscal year 2026–27.
District CFO Mike White had said a yes vote could have brought roughly $6 million a year—part local tax, part state match—and that departments had already been told to cut spending by 15% in the budget process. Those figures were the district’s case for the hike, not a new appropriation after the loss.
Results stay unofficial until the canvass.
